Welcome
I've been a journalist since 1991 and worked on local newspapers in Kent for a few years before joining Motor Cycle News in 1995. After working on the news desk and on the sports desk, I moved to Bike Magazine in 1997 where I had the roles of news editor, commissioning editor and road-test editor. I left in 2000 to become public relations officer for Cosworth Technology before re-joining the motorcycle world with Two Wheels Only magazine as assistant editor in 2001.
Following the take-over of TWO by Haymarket Publishing at the end of 2002, I was made editor and oversaw its dramatic re-launch. With the commuting between the Midlands and Middlesex finally taking their toll, I quit in October 2004 to form Bertie Simmonds Ltd, with the aim of freelancing for anyone who wanted me.
My website gives you an idea of the work I undertake, including examples of past work and current clients. If you've got a project that you feel needs the Bertie touch, just drop me a line. My contact details are over there on the left, look!
