I’ve been a journalist since 1991 and worked on local newspapers in Kent for a few years before joining Motor Cycle News in 1995. After working on the news desk and on the sports desk, I moved to Bike Magazine in 1997 where I had the roles of news editor, commissioning editor and road-test editor. I left in 2000 to become public relations officer for Cosworth Technology before re-joining the motorcycle world with Two Wheels Only magazine as assistant editor in 2001.
Following the take-over of TWO by Haymarket Publishing at the end of 2002, I was made editor and oversaw its dramatic re-launch as well as helping the magazine to the highest ABC figure in its history.
Eventually, the four years of commuting between the Midlands and Middlesex finally took their toll and I quit in October 2004 to form Bertie Simmonds Ltd, with the aim of freelancing in journalism and PR. |
